AirAsia X has announced the appointment of founder Tan Sri Tony Fernandes as its Group Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.
Tony who is the founder of AirAsia will return piloting the airline back to its glory days when AAX ruled the skies as the number one low-cost airline in the region. AAX has been placed under the PN17 list since last year due to financial constraints impacted by the pandemic, however, the group has been actively engaged with creditors on its debt and looks clear to return profitable in the near future.
The inspirational founder returns at a time when the airlines need his astute guidance the most, with the departures of two prominent directors namely Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and Dato Lim Kian Onn, Tony will be able to fill in these shoes and at the same time oversee the operations of the company.
