Datuk Zazuli Johan Appointed As New Director-General Of Customs

Datuk Zazuli Johan was appointed as the new Director-General of Customs effective July 8, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali today.

Zazuli, who was previously the Deputy Director-General of Customs (Customs and Inland Revenue), replaces Datuk Seri Abdul Latif Abdul Kadir whose term of appointment expired on a contract basis on March 24.

Mohd Zuki in a statement said Zazuli, 59, had extensive experiences in various fields including import-export control, compliance management, goods and services tax (GST), customs and taxation.

“I believe that the experience, knowledge, and credibility he has will enable him to continue the aspirations of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) towards world-class customs administration,” he said.

On behalf of the government, Mohd Zuki also expressed his highest appreciation and thanks to Abdul Latif for his services and devotion to the country as a civil servant for 37 years.
