Pharmaniaga has appointed renowned virologist Dr Jane Mary Cordosa as its new independent non-executive director with immediate effect.
Dr Jane who holds a Doctorate from the University of Oxford England is presently the Chief Technical Officer of Integrated Research Associates LLC and also the founder and director of MAB Explorations Sdn Bhd. She also founded another company. Venture Technologies Sdn Bhd 2009 to 2018.
She is involved in teaching and was the founding director of the Institute of Health and Community Medicine of the Universiti Sarawak Malaysia from 1994 to 1995 and Associate Professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia 1990 to 1994. Dr Jane was a lecturer at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia 1985 to 1989 – Lecturer at the School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia Jan to Apr 1985 – Postdoctoral Fellow at the Research Institute of the Scripps Clinic, La Jolla, C.A, USA 1980 to 1984 – Research Assistant on a Welcome Trust Grant at the Dunn School of Pathology of the University of Oxford, U.K.
Dr Jane was the first virologist to recognise the emergence of the enterovirus71 as an outbreak in the Sarawak region. EV71 is one of the virus that causes the hand, foot and mouth disease.
