Westport Revenue Increases 4% In Q2 Due To Growth In Container Revenue

Westport Holdings Bhd achieved a pre-tax profit of RM219.949 million on the back of a turnover of RM510.975 million for the year second quarter ending June 30, 2022 from a pre-tax profit of RM235.622 million on the back of a turnover of RM505.702 million.

In a Bursa filing, it said that the group recorded operational revenue of RM511 million in the quarter ended 30 June 2022 (“2Q2022”), a growth of 4% against the preceding year (“2Q2021”). It was mainly attributed to the growth in container revenue.

Profit before tax (“PBT”) for the Group in 2Q2022 showed a decline of 7% to RM220 million compared with 2Q2021. The reduction in PBT was mainly due to the higher fuel cost.

It said that the ongoing disruption in the supply chain, soaring inflation, zero covid policy in China, and conflict in Europe are not conducive to global economic growth. It is increasingly more challenging to maintain an identical container throughput in the current year.
