Govt Has Allocated RM1.08 Billion To Maintain Federal Roads

The government has set aside a total of RM1.08 billion to maintain and upkeep the Federal Road throughout Malaysia for this year, said Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

He said of that amount, RM150 million involved maintenance work in the southern zone, namely Pahang, Johor, and Negeri Sembilan. “For the southern zone, the maintenance work for the state of Pahang is as much as RM66.08 million, Johor (RM60.9 million), and Negeri Sembilan (RM23.63 million). He added that maintenance works are important to ensure these roads are in good condition.

The Minister also shared that the proposed project to upgrade the road on Jalan Persekutuan FT050 from Ayer Hitam to Kluang in Section 33.8 to the Kluang Stadium intersection in Section 49.1, will be submitted to the Federal level next year. Fadillah said the Phase 3B project with an estimated value of RM385.13 million was under the 12th Malaysia Plan which was implemented to reduce fatal accidents along the stretch.

Currently, the Phase 3A project is worth RM219 million which is under construction and expected to be completed in October 2024. The government has allocated an additional amount of RM600,000 to improve street lights on Jalan Persekutuan FT050 as these involve safety aspects for users.
