Japan Drops Guided Tour Entry Restriction, Allows Individual Travel

Japan has eased its travel conditions as it looks to receive tourists back into its country, the current only group tour restrictions as part of its Covid-19 SOP will be revoked from September 7.

Despite cases hitting really high 5-digit figures, the Land of the Rising Sun will be opening up its borders in an effort to recoup some of the lost tourism revenue. The entry quota has also been increased to 50,000 per day.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the border reopening will take into consideration various aspects including virus infections inside and outside Japan, travelers’ demands, and border control by other countries.

The latest move has not shared much detail on the nationality of permitted entry, so Malaysians will still have to wait for more clarity on the specifications. Japan has been once of the favourite destination of local travelers and the recent guide tour packages has been often fully booked.
