FromSoftware’s latest punishment simulator has all the familiar Souls-like touchstones, but it’s expanded out into an open world with a story crafted by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, so you know it’s not going to pull any punches.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is ageing gracefully. Even after several years, it remains one of the most impressive open world games ever created, combining Skyrim’s unapologetic scale with Grand Theft Auto V’s incredible depth. Because it’s such a packed game, it’s still near the top of the best PC games in 2022.
Ghostrunner
In this post-apocalyptic dystopian game, ultraviolence and constant motion collide. This FPP is not for the faint of heart; it’s tense, exhilarating, and you’ll most likely die several times while attempting to beat it. Ghostrunner is the game for you if you want a game that is equal parts Doom Eternal and Mirror’s Edge.
Dying Light 2
The Dying Light series has managed to keep things fresh with its parkour-style gameplay and day-night cycle, where the zombies go from slow and lumbering to extremely aggressive and much more dangerous.
Hades
The success of Pyre, Transistor, and Bastion helped Supergiant Games establish a name for itself. Now, fans of the studio can add Hades to the studio’s pantheon of great games. Hades employs the same isometric perspective as the other games and tells the story of Hades’ son, Zagreus, attempting to flee the underworld.
God of War
The God of War series has been running since 2005. And, despite the fact that the series has had many entries over the years, the one from 2018 has reinvigorated it, whether it’s due to a new setting – you’re no longer exploring some hellscape version of Greece – or the fact that Kratos now has a companion on his journey.
Deathloop
If you’ve ever wondered what Groundhog Day would look like in game form, look no further. Deathloop, from the creators of the Dishonored series, adds a fun little twist to the first-person shooter with some added strategy.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
It won’t take you long to realise that Microsoft Flight Simulator is a labour of love, beyond its impeccable graphics and excellent peripheral support. There’s a lot of detail here, as well as a level of realism and immersion you won’t find anywhere else.
Hitman 3
Hitman 3 concludes the rebooted trilogy with another stunning entry that demonstrates what makes these games so unique. It doesn’t reinvent the gameplay, but it does add six new maps and completes the story that began with Hitman in 2016. The maps in Hitman 3 will take you all over the world, including Dubai, England, and China.
Death Stranding
If the name Norman Reedus piqued your interest when someone mentioned Death Stranding, you’re in for a treat. However, this game is gaining popularity for reasons other than the big names attached to it, which include Mads Mikkelsen and Léa Seydoux.
