Pertama Digital Berhad has appointed Senior Law partner Datuk Seri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani as Director and Member of the Board ofthe group.
This appointment is the first since the disposal of Pertama Digital’s stake in China-based textile company, BeTop Group Limited and marks a significant step in the transformation of Pertama Digital.
Datuk Seri Dr Nik is currently the Chairman and Senior Partner of Zaid Ibrahim & Co., a member law firm of ZICO Law. He currently advises on a wide range of legal matters incorporating Islamic finance, banking, offshore finance, debt restructuring, international, corporate, and commercial law. His advisory work also includes debt and corporate restructuring transactions and the issuance of private debt securities including Islamic financial instruments (domestic and international). Datuk Seri Dr Nik has also been legal counsel for several mergers and acquisitions and advises generally on regulatory and compliance issues. Pertama Digital seeks to leverage his extensive experience in these key areas as the company continues on a growth trajectory.
According to Independent Non-Executive Chairman, Tun Dato’ Seri Zaki bin Tun Azmi, “the appointment is critical in addressing our move forward to become a fully Syariah-compliant business as well as to advise on future expansion projects. Datuk Seri Dr Nik is a barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, UK and was with Baker & McKenzie (International Lawyers), Singapore. He was also formerly the Acting Dean/Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia
