Malaysia’s Spending Up By 41% In July, Motor Vehicles Sales Alone Increased 613.8%: DOSM

The nation’s sales value of the Wholesale and Retail Trade was recorded at RM130.7 billion in July 2022, registering a growth of 41 per cent year-on-year.

The positive growth was contributed by all sub-sectors, namely Motor Vehicles (613.8 per cent), Retail Trade (37.5 per cent); and (Wholesale Trade 20.6 per cent).

The higher trends towards spending within the local economy was publish by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) via its report Wholesale & Retail Trade, July 2022 today.

In terms of the volume index, Wholesale & Retail Trade (as an industry) registered a growth of 33.7 per cent year-on-year to record 142.5 points. The increment was supported by the increase of Motor Vehicles at the rate of 681.6 per cent, Retail Trade (31.6 per cent); and Wholesale Trade (10.8 per cent.)

As for seasonally adjusted volume index, it went down -1.4 per cent month-on-month in July 2022.
