China Causes Hong Kong To Lose Its Global Aviation Hub Status: IATA

China’s Zero-Covid policy has made Hong Kong lose its global aviation hub status said the head of airlines group IATA who warned that if Beijing persists on the guideline, the industry’s recovery would be severely impacted.

He added that China’s action had devastated Hong Kong and made Cathay Pacific airlines nearly non-existent.” Cathay Pacific is a shadow of its former self as a result. Hong Kong has lost its position as a global hub and will struggle to regain it because other hubs have taken advantage of it,” he said, blaming government policies, not the virus.

Hong Kong is traditionally a major hub where passenger transit between international flights before flying to China, it is also the home base of Cathay Pacific.

IATA added if the restrictions are continued, the industry will surely suffer.
