Transforming Education Into An Interactive And Fun Experience For Students With ViewSonic

The development of digital technology now evolved to being part of the daily routines of every individual and organisation. The important role of digitisation in various fields should be recognised as it can facilitate increased productivity.

The COVID-19 epidemic has caused people around the world to adapt to new norms of life, including in the field of education.

Instead of face-to-face learning and teaching, educational institutions had to agree to continue the process of learning and teaching at home (PdPR). This is where all parties start to realise that digital technology plays a role in the implementation of virtual education.

Teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Bayu, Seri Manjung in Perak stood by this that the pandemic has changed the landscape of education as a whole and that digital technology helps teachers in the delivery of knowledge in an interactively.

With more than 27 years of experience as an educator, Ruth Ling Wang Ling thinks that education digitalisation makes Classroom Assessment (PBD) more interactive and fun.

Continuous assessment in teaching and learning sessions to obtain information about students’ development, progress, abilities, and achievements have also become easier.

Ling said, as an educator, it is very important to have fun, keep things interesting and to promote an effective learning situation for students to be creative. To enable this scenario, an interactive online teaching platform is the solution.

She said, instead of using many teaching applications at one time, it is good that interactive applications such as myViewBoard are fully utilised by teachers to interact with students.

“The use of the myViewBoard application released by ViewSonic has helped her in providing interactive and effective teaching materials as well as improving the quality of teachers’ virtual teaching.

For example, when teaching Mathematics, it helps her explain the topic more effectively. In addition to the different functions of the all-in-one myViewBoard, she can prepare materials and record her teaching and share it with her students.

“When using myViewBoard for example, I can put up fractions, and circles directly from this application to show the concept of equivalent fractions, or mixed numbers so students can clearly see and understand it instead of just having to imagine it. So, teachers can explain clearly using pictures, and animations in myViewBoard.

“By using this application, teachers can become facilitators, so we can see students learning more easily than just the teacher talking in class,” she said.

Links can be provided to students for them to join and interact with myViewBoard, making for quality and collaborative teaching that engages students.

“There are various functions in myViewBoard that allow teachers to prepare for PBD materials using functions like throw, pop quiz and pool. In addition, I see that my students are comfortable and like using it because it makes it easier for them in my class,” she said.

The role of Digitisation in Education

According to Ling, teachers who get help from technology or digitisation make their teaching very abstract and context be delivered more clearly and easily.

She said, digital teaching and learning should continue because the world continues to grow and in the 21st century, the use of ‘chalk & talk’ is seen as less effective.

Digitisation aids can also help teachers convey information more effectively and the ViewSonic IFP ViewBoard used in her school greatly helps students better understand the subjects being taught.

In addition to the advantages found on ViewBoard, the use of music and sound effects in the application encourage students to learn more as it’s fun.

“I think technology was a limiting factor during the MCO, but when students returned to class, as a teacher we need to equip ourselves with various applications in line with the advancement of technology and the development of time.

“The world has now moved one step forward, even students have become more IT literate. The time has come for teachers to also upgrade themselves so that learning in the classroom makes students continue to feel interested in obtaining knowledge,” she said.
