PPB Properties, the property division of PPB Group Berhad, has unveiled its new community-centric neighbourhood mall named Megah Rise, in celebration of its 40th anniversary.
Positioned to be a placemaking space for the community of Taman Megah, Megah Rise aims to bring added vitality to the local neighbourhood, with its curated retail experience features an eclectic mix of food and beverage outlets, a premium grocer and recreational facilities.
The official reveal of the Megah Rise Mall follows the successful completion of the mixed development, which includes a 39-storey premium condominium, in July 2022.
Megah Rise’s four-level retail space is designed to reinvigorate the matured neighbourhood of Taman Megah with a modern appeal. With approximately 100 outlets, totalling approximately 142,000 square feet of net lettable area, this community-led neighbourhood mall is slated to open to the public in December 2022.
Where Old Meets New in the Mall’s design and features, the retail space is dominated by industrial architecture language. Classic red bricks and black iron steel were used to signify the stark contrast between the old and new. The mall’s interior features high ceilings, large glass panels and skylights, allowing natural light to flow into the mall whilst creating a sense of space that welcomes the community to enjoy the retail experience in Megah Rise.
An air-conditioned multi-purpose sports hall which spans over 13,584 square feet is built to cater to recreational sports activities. The spacious indoor sports hall is fitted with six badminton courts and is designed to be modular, where the space can be transformed for other sports activities.
On the Ground Floor, an approximately 115-meter-long paved walkway named #MegahWalk is curated to be pet friendly with alfresco dining areas dotted along the path. #MegahWalk will also turn into a unique gathering space for buskers, artisanal markets, events and exhibitions over the weekend. The center of the walkway has a built-in splash pad and pet-friendly amenities for the enjoyment of mall patrons and local communities.
Megah Rise’s Tenancy Concept: The Union of Retail Experience & Community Engagement Deliberately designed to serve the community of Taman Megah, Megah Rise seeks to provide a unique retail experience with approximately 40% of its net lettable area to be dedicated to food and beverage outlets. Reinforcing PPB Properties’ core in contributing to the community, a sizeable area will be gazetted to cater to homegrown brands, social enterprises and green activities.
The mall will be anchored by a premium grocer, Village Grocer in Basement 1 and Michael’s Badminton Academy, which will operate the sports hall at Level 3.
The outdoor alfresco dining areas on the Ground Floor will be tenanted by a range of lifestyle cafes and hangout spots, such as Oomph, a brand new café and bar by GUĀNG Bar and Brew&Bread, Naj&Belle, a Hong Kong-inspired Cha Chaan Teng, Kheng Wah.
Not just that, a range of upscale dining experiences offered at the mall include a premium hotpot restaurant, Dai Sei Hei, a thematic café and bar named Cage13, PIK Oyster Bar and a few wine bars.
Other tenants include restaurants and cafes offering Ipoh delicacies, Yat Yat Seng, a dim sum and steamboat restaurant, Dian Hou Restaurant, hair salons, home improvement stores, and wellness centres.
