Datuk Yasmin Appointed To UWM Holdings Board

UMW Holdings has appointed Datuk Yasmin Mahmood formerly of MDEC as the group’s independent non-executive director with immediate effect.

The conglomerate made the announcement together with other new appointments to the composition of its board of directors. Datuk Yasmin Mahmood has served in the Technology industry for more than 30 years, both in the private and public sectors. She started her career as an analyst programmer before working her way up to the chief executive officer and senior positions within Malaysia global brands such as Regional Director of Dell Asia Pacific and Managing Director of Microsoft Malaysia.

Following, which she was then appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation from 2015 to 2019. Prior to joining MDEC, Datuk Yasmin was the Executive Director at YTL Communications Sdn Bhd. In her early career, she served as the General Manager, CPSD of HP Sales Malaysia from 1995 to 1999. She was also the General Manager of Dataprep Retail Sdn Bhd from 1993 to 1995. Datuk Yasmin currently serves in non-executive positions, such as the Chair of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Board of Directors, Directors for Malaysia Industrial Development Finance Berhad, and Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad. She is also active in helping tech startups, such as Skymind Holdings Berhad, a global AI company.
