DOSM: Malaysia’s Manufacturing Sales Value Rose 24.4 Per Cent, Amounting To RM157.4 Billion In August

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales value in August 2022 stood at RM157.4 billion, growing by 24.4 per cent as compared to the same period of 2021.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) released its Monthly Manufacturing Statistics Malaysia, August 2022 report today (Oct 12) which cited the growth in sales value for August 2022 was driven by Electrical & Electronics Products subsector (25.8%), Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastic Products subsector (27.6%) and Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products subsector (18.4%).

The total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in August 2022 was 2,309,353 persons, augmented 4.3 per cent as compared to 2,213,715 persons in August 2021.

Meanwhile, the salaries & wages paid was also reported to have raised by 7.5 per cent or RM541.3 million amounting to RM7,771.3 million as against the same month of the preceding year.

DOSM

The sales value per employee rose by 19.3 per cent to record RM68,174 as compared with the same month in 2021 while the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,365.

For the period of January to August 2022, the sales value of the Manufacturing sector surged by 17.4 per cent to RM1,164.7 billion as compared to the same period in 2021.

The number of employees increased 4.3 per cent to 2.31 million persons while salaries & wages expanded 5.3 per cent to RM62.3 billion.

Sales value per employee for similar period of year 2022 recorded RM504,321 with year-on-year growth of 12.5 per cent.
