Indonesia’s state budget recorded a surplus of Rp60.9 trillion or 0.33 percent of the national gross domestic product (GDP) in the year ended September 30, 2022, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has informed.

“Overall, our state budget recorded a surplus of Rp60.9 trillion or 0.33 percent of the GDP. The surplus is lower than that in the previous month, but it is far better compared to September last year when we suffered a deficit of Rp451.3 trillion,” she said.

She attributed the budget surplus to state revenues, which reached Rp1,974.7 trillion as of September 2022 out of the target of Rp2,266.2 trillion for 2022. The state revenues swelled 45.7 percent compared to Rp1,355 trillion in the year-ago period.

State revenues grew as the realisation of all components including tax receipts, customs and excise receipts, and non-tax state revenues increased, she explained.

Compared to the year-ago period, tax receipts rose 54.2 percent to Rp1,310.5 trillion from Rp850.1 trillion, customs and excise receipts swelled 26.9 percent to Rp232.1 trillion from Rp182.9 trillion, and non-tax state revenues climbed 34.4 percent to Rp431.5 trillion from Rp321 trillion.

Meanwhile, state spending reached Rp1,913.9 trillion or 61.6 percent of the target of Rp3,106.4 trillion for 2022. State spending grew 5.9 percent year-on-year (yoy) compared to Rp1,806.9 trillion a year earlier.

The state spending comprised ministerial/institutional (K/L) spending of Rp674.4 trillion or 71.3 percent of the target and non-ministerial/institutional (non-K/L) spending, which crossed Rp686.8 trillion or 50.7 percent of the target. Meanwhile, fund transfers to regions (TKD) reached Rp552.6 trillion or 68.7 percent of the target.
