GE-15 Impasse Continues: King Summons 30 BN MPs To Istana Negara On Wednesday Morning (Updated)

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has summoned all 30 Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs to Istana Negara on Wednesday (Nov 23) morning, following the meeting with the leaders of Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional at 4.30 pm today (Nov 22).

In a statement issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin today, each MP will have an individual audience with the King, beginning 10.30am as the subsequent process to the audience granted to Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at 4.30pm on today.

“The process is to allow the King to make a decision to appoint a Member of Parliament who, in His Majesty’s wisdom, would command majority support in the Dewan Rakyat as provided by Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution,” Ahmad Fadil said.

His Majesty has called upon the people to pray that the process goes smoothly for the sake of this beloved nation and also to be blessed and protected from disasters and calamities, the statement read.

His Majesty had also called for calm and patience from all Malaysians until the process of forming a new government and the appointment of the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia is complete.

No Decision Issued Yet By The King On Who’s Malaysia’s 10th PM

Earlier, Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says no decision has yet been made about who Malaysia’s next prime minister, following a royal audience with the Yang Di-Pertuan Agung today (Nov 22).

There also has been no decision on him being appointed interim prime minister in a move to build a majority in Parliament.

At a press conference, Anwar said: “We have been summoned by the king. His highness has expressed his desire to form a government inclusive of race, religion and region.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman, who had an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Tuesday (Nov 22), said names had been submitted to the King and the matter would be left to his Highness’ discretion.

“We were summoned by the King and I expressed my profound gratitude for the opportunity given,” he said.

It was reported that Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s entourage was seen leaving Istana Negara after the royal audience without speaking to the press.
