SIBS 2022 Attracts RM1.45 Billion In Potential Transactions

The return to the physical event for the 2022 Selangor International Business Summit which took place in October was a success said the state executive councillor of Selangor as the event managed to record some RM1.45 billion in potential business transactions.

Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said SIBS saw a total of 906 exhibition booths from 623 companies, involving attendees from 60 countries and consisting of exhibitors, international buyers, conference speakers, seminar participants, as well as visitors.

“SIBS 2022 has been elevated to an international-level trade exhibition and conference programme, and is held every year by the Selangor state government through Invest Selangor. This year, the event has attracted RM1.45 billion in potential business transactions and saw approximately 44,342 visitors, with 25 per cent public visitors and 75 per cent trade visitors,” he said.

He said SIBS is a business-to-business platform made specifically for corporations with products that are ready for export. However, it is not a platform for micro-enterprises.

SIBS 2022 held at the KLCC Convention Centre which was part of BusinessToday media involvement and was the largest one since 2015. It is recognised as an international event and we should not lower its standards. Micro-enterprises will have to increase their standards to be featured in the event.

“Hence, I believe there should be an alternative platform for micro-enterprises to educate them and allow them the opportunities to be more competitive as they improve on their products, so it can be marketed internationally,” Teng said.

The Selangor Aviation Show which ran before was similarly successful, as it saw the participation of 123 exhibition booths from 66 companies, both domestic and international. It saw approximately 10,563 visitors and recorded a total RM1.174 billion in potential transactions.
