Reports of fire at the Ministry Of Finance broke out on social media with many wondering if they were true or another fake news being spread as this was also the first day Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim stepped into office.
However, this was later confirmed by MOF when the Ministry sent out a press statement saying a small fire had occurred at 2:26 pm at the Trash Room located on Level G, North Block, Treasury Building, Ministry of Finance Complex, Putrajaya.
The statement added the small fire had been successfully extinguished by the Putrajaya Fire and Rescue Team and confirmed that it had not spread to other areas of the Treasury Building. The statement also informed that no person or persons were injured or any losses reported.
At the same time the treasury is still waiting for an official report from authorities regarding the cause of the fire incident.
