Corrupt Ministers Will Be Sacked: Anwar

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a stark warning to his Ministers and Deputy Ministers that he will not hesitate to anyone in his cabinet if there were found to be involved in bribery or misuse of power.

After just appointing his cabinet, the Prime Minister said he would not compromise on such culture in the unity government that he leads.

“I have informed the cabinet ministers whom I have chosen, first and foremost there must be no corruption. I have also informed all component party leaders that if any ministers are involved in corruption, I will seek their mandate to sack them immediately.”

Anwar said the reminder was not a political gimmick but rather his confidence he can get rid of corruption in the country.

He has been a staunch supporter of a corruption-free country and has constantly spoken about the deep decay in moral values among leaders who are corrupt. Anwar echoes his mentor, Dr Mahathir’s call after leaving UMNO on the need to rid the country of bribery and misuse of power.
