In a satirical gesture, national icon Dato Lat penned this witty caricature of staff outside Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s office holding literary works of Socrates, Lau Tze, Confucious, and Abu’l Fath Al Busti probably trying to understand more about their boss.
Anwar is known to be a big fan of reading and has frequently quoted scripts from great writers during his speech.
The PM noticed Dato Lat’s work and posted on his Tweeter, thanking Lat for the drawing and said “Belum terlambat untuk memupuk budaya membaca. Karya-karya besar mesti ditelaah oleh golongan muda hari ini bagi melawan kebebalan dan mencambah daya fikir yang kritis.”
Which translates to “It is not too late to cultivate a reading culture. Great works must be studied by today’s youth to fight ignorance and cultivate critical thinking.”
