The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued a total of 112 compounds worth RM4,696,000.00 throughout the year 2022 involving various offenses under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 as well as subsidiary legislation under the said act.
Of that number, 106 compounds were issued against MCMC license holders as follows:
• 53 compounds for offenses under the Communications and Multimedia (Numbering) Regulations 2016, namely failure to comply with electronic numbering and addressing plans.
• 27 compounds for offenses under the Communications and Multimedia (Universal Service Provision) Regulations 2002.
• 17 compounds for offenses under Section 105 (3) AKM 1998 which is failure to comply with mandatory standards.
• Five compounds for offenses under Section 242 AKM 1998 which is failure to comply with license conditions.
• Two compounds for offenses under Section 127 AKM 1998 which is failure to comply with the Guidelines on Registration of End-Users of Prepaid Public Cellular Services.
• Two compounds for offenses under Section 126 AKM 1998 which is offering services without a license.
In addition, MCMC also issued six compounds against non-license holders as follows:
• Five compounds for offenses under Regulation 16 (1)(b) of the Communications and Multimedia Regulations (Technical Standards) 2000, which is using uncertified communication equipment.
• One compound for an offense under Section 235 AKM 1998 which is causing damage to network facilities.
