The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) revealed today that the production of natural rubber decreased in October 2022 (31,795 tonnes) as compared to September 2022 (35,460 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison also showed that the production of natural rubber decreased by 26.3 per cent (October 2021: 43,127 tonnes). Production of natural rubber in October 2022 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders’ sector (87.8%) as compared to estates sector (12.2%).
In its reports entitled ‘Monthly Rubber Statistics Malaysia, October 2022,’ total stocks of natural rubber in October 2022 decreased by 0.3 per cent to 198,122 tonnes as compared to 198,706 tonnes in September 2022. Rubber processors factory contributed 90.8 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (9.1%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports of Malaysia’s natural rubber amounted to 41,548 tonnes in October 2022, decreased 23.8 per cent as against September 2022 (54,542 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for natural rubber exports which accounted 56.2 per cent of total exports in October 2022 followed by Germany (8.2%), Brazil (3.3%), Finland (3.2%) and Iran (3.0%).
Analysis of the average monthly price showed that Latex Concentrated recorded a decrease of 2.2 per cent (October 2022: 466.42 sen per kg, September 2022: 476.76 sen per kg) while, Scrap increased by 1.2 per cent (October 2022: 471.29 sen per kg, September 2022: 465.86 sen per kg).
