2022 Price Cap On 11 Essential Goods For Christmas, Including Chicken And Pork

The Government has announced a maximum price cap on 11 essential goods for the Christmas festive season including keeping prices of chicken, chicken wings, and pork.

The Ministry of Domestic Consumer and Trade has announced that items like whole chicken, chicken wings, pork, potato, tomato, round cabbage, carrots, green pepper, pork, imported lamb with bone, pork belly, and pork meat. The duration for the price cap will be from December 23 to 27.

Any traders who do not comply with the directive and are found to sell the items above the pricing could be slapped with an RM100,000 fine or 3 years prison sentence or both. If prices are not displayed using pink signages could also be compounded with a fine of RM5000 for individual operators or RM10,000 for business entities. Failure to display any price signages could lead to an RM50,000 fine and 2 years prison sentence for individuals and RM100,000 with 2 years prison sentence for business ownership.

Customers are encouraged to report if ay of the pricing deviates from those listed above to the Ministry.
