Unity Package Prepaid Plan As Low As RM5 Monthly Will Be Introduced In February 2023

The government will introduce the Unity Package prepaid mobile internet plan at a lower price than the current market which is RM5 per month starting February 2023.

The Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil, said the subscription will be carried out in collaboration with five communication providers, namely Celcom-Digi, Maxis, Umobile, Telekom Malaysia (TM) and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YES).

“This prepaid unity package is offered at a price of RM30 with 30 gigabytes (GB) of data for a period of six months which is specifically for youth, the B40 group, the elderly, people with disabilities (OKU) and veterans.

“With only RM5 a month, that group can enjoy internet and communication facilities with a speed of three megabits per second (Mbps) with 30GB of data,” he said at his press conference today.

“The speed of the package has also tripled from one Mbps to three Mbps. This means half the price, three times the speed. This package offers potential savings of 65 percent to 85 percent equivalent to RM90 to RM150 for a period of six months compared to the current package in the market,” he said.

Fahmi said, this is the basic package that is provided and it is up to the telecommunications service provider to offer added value on top of the package offered.

“In the coming weeks and months, this ministry will work harder to ensure that some things can be announced. There are some things being discussed.

“For ‘broadband’ users, in the near future we will have a good announcement and in the coming months there will be several things that I will make a priority to help the people, especially when we want the economy to be generated better and reduce the cost of living,” he said.
