Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong made an official visit to the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) today, marking a new chapter in the effort to implement the national productivity improvement initiative.
MPC said the discussion focused, among others, on the agency’s role in realising the transformation of the industry through technology and digitalisation.
Deputy director general Zahid Ismail said the subsectors identified which could boost the nation’s productivity included the digital economy, green technology, solar industry, and electric vehicles, in line with fulfilling environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
“The ESG initiative clearly holds a huge potential to drive national productivity. Not only can it help in reducing operating costs, it can increase value added and raise productivity and economic sustainability in order for us to remain relevant at the global level,” he said in statement.
Liew was briefed on the various MPC initiatives to drive the country’s productivity through five key thrusts at the national, sectoral, and enterprise levels — namely, talent, technology, business ecosystem, industry structure, and productive mindset.
MPC expressed its commitment to guide organisations towards digitalisation and innovation through the MyReskill IOT and Industry4WRD programmes, which are jointly spearheaded with the International Trade and Industry Ministry towards realising the industrial transformation agenda by leveraging technology and digitalisation to drive the nation’s productivity.
