Foremost Energy Awards By MGTC, NEA 2023 Is Now Open For Submission

The country’s foremost energy award event organised by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation is back, the National Energy Awards (NEA) which pay recognition to the industry in their efforts towards sustainability is now open for 2023 submission.

Organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) with MGTC NEA was created to support sustainable energy practices while recognising and honouring industry players for their innovations as Malaysia transitions to a climate-conscious green economy.

There are three categories: Energy Management, Energy-efficient Buildings, and Renewable Energy. Winners from all categories will represent Malaysia at the ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA). The AEA is Southeast Asia’s highest award for excellence, recognising organisational efforts in sustainable energy management, practices, and efficiency in the region.

Participation is open for Malaysian organisations that can demonstrate best practices or projects in all those categories. The adoption of energy conservation practices significantly advances the nation’s long-term goal of a greener, more sustainable economy.

Ts. Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor, CEO of MGTC, said, “Adopting sustainable energy practices supports our country’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. We want to encourage more organisations from all sectors to contribute to our nation’s mission through green innovation. We want to acknowledge their efforts and hope more organisations will recognise the importance of adopting sustainable energy practices to benefit their long-term business strategy.”

Malaysian organisations, including government sectors, businesses, factories, and building owners such as hospitals and universities, have participated in NEA over the last five years. This award has demonstrated the value that cuts across all sectors and what it stands for in recognising the commitment of Malaysia’s public and private sectors to adopting sustainable energy practices. The number of Malaysian representatives at the AEA has increased over the years, and the country has won numerous awards.

All NEA participants will also be provided guidelines and support via workshops and submission briefings, including one-on-one sessions to ensure a smooth submission process. The closing date for all submissions will be on 24 February 2023.
