Selangor MB: Five-Year Plan As Thrust To State Economy, Encompassing Over 200 Projects For The People

The First Selangor Plan (RS-1), serving as the state’s development framework for a five-year period, features more than 200 projects which will be beneficial to the people.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the plan, worth in excess of RM200 billion, began last year and involves the development of new regions and areas in Selangor, while also emphasising economic and infrastructural aspects.

“RS-1 includes certain Federal projects like the light rail transit (LRT), as well as private and public projects. Not forgetting of course the state government projects like the deepening of Sungai Klang, and the Raw Water Guarantee Scheme which will be completed by the end of this year or by 2024, to prevent pollution.

“Development for the people will also take place in Gombak. We are aiming to develop infrastructure, alongside combining facilities and broadband networks for the people’s convenience,” he said.

The Menteri Besar was speaking at the Chinese New Year celebrations for the Gombak parliamentary seat and Hulu Kelang state constituency, in Taman Melawati last night.

On August 2 last year, the Selangor State Legislative Assembly approved the RS-1 2021 – 2025’s proposal for development projects worth an estimated RM212.44 billion.

The plan will focus on economic growth, empowering the people through welfare programmes, and sustainable development. It also focuses on transparent and efficient government systems and services.

RS-1 will take into account comprehensive policy implementation, projects and initiatives between the state government and the Federal government while not sidelining the ongoing five-year 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12) which will have an impact on Selangor.
