IRIS Corp Says It Won NIISe Tender Fair And Square

IRIS Information Technology a subsidiary under Iris Corporation the company embroiled in the Parliament debate over the NIISe contract that the Home Ministry awarded claimed it won the tender fair and square.

In a Bursa filing, the company issued a statement responding to a recent newspaper article entitled “Why was this firm given the project?” whereby Iris said it together with many other local and international companies, participated in an open tender process that started with the issuance of a Request for Proposal (“RFP”) by KDN on 23 May 2019.

After which IITS submitted a proposal on 19 August 2019 and thereafter on 16 January 2020, was invited to participate in the actual tender for the Project. The group submitted its tender proposal to KDN on 4 March 2020 with the understanding that more than twenty companies participated in the tender. The Project was then awarded to IITS as the sole recipient on 29 January 2021.

In its defense, IRIS states that it has a successful track record of delivering IT projects to governments domestically and internationally including in Canada, India, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal, Solomon Islands, and Tanzania for more than 20 years, and has consistently met its financial obligation based on prudent financial practices.

It also stated that it has achieved meaningful progress in the NIISe project but is unable to disclose further information due to confidentiality obligations.  

NIISe, or the National Integrated Immigration System is an RM1.12 billion project awarded by the Ministry Of Home Affairs to streamline the current system.
