Residents of Selangor seeking to carry out health check-ups and detect any ailments in their early stages can do so by registering on the SELangkah app, starting yesterday.
State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the free health screenings, via the Selangor Saring programme, also provide funding of up to RM3,000 for certain diseases.
The screenings cover heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, as well as colorectal, prostate, cervical and breast cancers.
“Selangor Saring also screens for eye-related diseases such as myopia, glaucoma and those related to the retina, dental and ear examinations, and physiotherapy services,” she said in a Facebook post yesterday evening.
Dr Siti Mariah added the screenings are offered based on the assessment of individual risk factors, taken from the initial screening form in the SELangkah app.
The state government has continued Selangor Saring by adding three more services, which are ear screening, dental check-ups, and physiotherapy services.
The programme, which began last year, has received an RM2.6 million allocation, with an estimated target of 31,000 participants in all 56 state constituencies.
