Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, former CEO of TalentCorp, has been appointed Treasury secretary-general effective today (February 27).
Johan, a chartered accountant who earned a first-class honours degree from Cambridge University, previously held the positions of national budget director and assistant director-general (policy) of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).
He replaces Asri Hamidin, who was appointed in 2020 and had been placed on leave in December, shortly after Anwar Ibrahim was appointed prime minister and subsequently took on the finance portfolio.
