The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) began its year-long celebration of its 30 year milestone with a special ceremony honouring distinguished staff members who had dedicated their services to the commission since its inception in 1993. Among them was the SC’s newly appointed Managing Director, Kamarudin Hashim.
After the presentation of long-service awards and letters of appreciation, the SC Chairman, Dato’ Seri Dr. Awang Adek Hussin, addressed the staff and thanked them for their unwavering commitment and hard work towards the success of the SC in its 30 years of service.
“30 years is a significant milestone, and we have come a long way since our humble beginnings. It is impossible to overstate the positive impact that the SC has had on the nation. A major contributor to the success is due to the SC’s most important asset, which is its people.”
At the ceremony, the SC Chairman unveiled the SC DNA. The SC DNA is a set of guiding principles that the SC holds in high regard and that encompasses the values that have been inculcated in all SC staff members over the years. They are: leadership, stakeholder-focusedness, integrity, risk-mindset, innovation and talent growth.
The SC’s 30th Anniversary Book, which will be released later this year, will commemorate this milestone by presenting a collection of thought leadership capturing the 30 year evolution of the Malaysian capital market.
