Two Countries, Two Councils On One campus

Sunway University as one of the venue partners recently hosted the Malaysian Dutch Business Council (MDBC) Judging event for the MDBC Innovation & Sustainability Awards (MISA). The event was attended by H.E. Jacques Werner, Ambassador from the Netherlands Embassy, and the President of Sunway University, Professor Sibrandes Poppema, served as one of the judges.

This event provided an invaluable platform for the finalists to showcase their innovative projects and business concepts, allowing people to learn from their experiences and connect with different stakeholders. It was a great opportunity for both the Malaysian and Dutch business communities to collaborate, exchange ideas, and demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.

In the same week, Sunway University was thrilled to welcome Scott McDonald, Chief Executive of the British Council for making his inaugural visit to Malaysia in his role as part of the British Council’s 75th anniversary in Malaysia and is very proud of the organisation’s long success in the country.

During his inaugural visit to the Sunway campus, Scott shared valuable insights on cultural exchanges and the power of soft diplomacy between the United Kingdom and Malaysia. The esteemed guests from the British Council joined the visit as well and had a productive meeting with the Sunway Leadership team, including the Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Education Group, Professor Dato’ Elizabeth Lee and the president, Professor Sibrandes Poppema.
