NAFAS Appoints New GM

The National Farmers’ Association (NAFAS) announced the appointment of Muhammad Faris Arriffin as the new General Manager, effective March 8, 2023.

The appointment of a technocrat to fill the NAFAS General Manager position brings the hope of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in driving NAFAS to be a catalyst for the modernization of the agro-food industry’s supply chain and attract the interest of the youth to venture into the field of agriculture through technology and digital applications.

“NAFAS which represents 14 State Farmers’ Organizations, which is made up of 279 Regional Farmers’ Organizations, and has almost a million farmer members across the country has the ability to be a pillar of the government’s policies and initiatives that support the direction towards increasing the level of security national food in addition to defending the well-being of farmers through a more sustainable, resilient and high-tech approach. The collaboration between NAFAS and KPKM and related agencies and state governments, public and private sectors will be strengthened in order to realize this aspiration,” said Faris. Arriffin.

Dato’ Haji Zamri bin Yaakob, Chairman of the NAFAS Board of Directors, said, “As an institution that leads the movement of Farmers’ Organizations, NAFAS is always ready to play a major role in helping the government form a self-reliant, prosperous and united farming community. With pragmatic leadership and vision clear transformation, the appointment of the new NAFAS General Manager is expected to be able to take this organization to a higher level.”

Bringing a dynamic combination of 15 years of expertise in engineering and technology, corporate management, as well as experience in business development and investment strategy, he has previously served at PETRONAS, Halliburton, and Schlumberger. Faris Arriffin holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Adelaide, Australia and is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Finance at Harvard University, USA.
