Japan, Malaysia Sign MOC For The Establishment Of Branch Campus Of Uni Of Tsukuba In Malaysia

H.E. Ambassador Takahashi Katsuhik signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with Y.B. Dato’ Seri Haji Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Minister of Higher Education, regarding the establishment of a branch campus of the University of Tsukuba in Malaysia.  

The objective of the MOC is to develop cooperation for the establishment and operation of the  branch campus of the University of Tsukuba for a period of twenty years from today. 

Under the MOC, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology  and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Government of Malaysia will carry out the following forms: 

(a) facilitating in site survey including determining the location (land or building) for  purposes of establishment the University of Tsukuba Malaysia; 

(b) ensuring that all related procedures and conditions including legal and administrative  are smoothly implemented and complied with; 

(c) facilitating in students recruitment; 

(d) facilitating in developing study courses and programmes; 

(e) facilitating in establishing the research partnership strategy; and 

(f) any other forms of cooperation that may be jointly decided upon by the Participants. 

We hope that through this signing of the MOC, cooperation among parties concerned will be  enhanced. If all goes smoothly, the earliest possible timing of the opening of the branch campus will be September 2024.  

We also look forward that Tsukuba’s branch campus in Malaysia will contribute to further  strengthening the already cordial bilateral relations between Japan and Malaysia.
