Applications for the Music Industry Digital Content Grant (DKD) under the MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd Group are open from March 23, announced the Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil.
Through a statement on Friday (March 17), he said, the Music Industry DKD was introduced in line with the government’s commitment to fuel the creative industry, art and culture.
The DKD application can be made through the link www.mycreative.com.my/dkd.
“I believe this DKD will open up more opportunities for art activists post-pandemic COVID-19 to produce high-quality creative works that are able to compete not only in the local market, but also able to penetrate the international market,” he said.
Fahmi said a total of 13 recipients had been given a letter agreeing to receive the Music Performance Fund under the DKD Music Industry Year 2022 initiative, amounting to RM3.3 million.
Three licensing bodies, namely Music Authors Copyright Protection (MACP) Bhd, Public Performance Malaysia (PPM) and Recording Performances Malaysia (RPM) Bhd also received Music Use Copyright Licensing Scheme Payments from the government amounting to RM2.18 million.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) for the first time organized a music industry public dialogue session attended by more than 500 players and music industry activists at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (klpac).
Industry players participating in the session are artists, producers, managers, record company representatives, music streaming service representatives and event organizers from all over the country.
Fahmi said the public dialogue was the first step to bring together stakeholders from various levels of the industry to identify and discuss potential initiatives in advancing the country’s music industry and resolve related issues.
“KKD is determined to build a conducive ecosystem to support the creative industry.
“Continued cooperation with players and music industry activists is very significant in the effort to drive the country’s creative industry to a higher level,” he said.
