MEX In Full Support Of Open Payment System, Says CEO

Referring to the announcement made by the Minister of Works, YB Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi on March 28, regarding the involvement of Maju Expressway (MEX) in the implementation of the open payment system scheduled for September 2023, MEX has expressed their full support for the Government’s initiative in expanding the scope of toll payment alternatives, including payment through debit and credit cards.

MEX’s CEO, Halimi Ibrahim said, “In pursuit of the earlier announcement made by our Minister of Works, the introduction of toll payment using debit/credit cards at the toll lanes can be seen as a step towards preparing for the transition to the Multi Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system at highways.

“We are currently holding discussions with the Ministry of Works (MOW), Malaysia Highway Authority (MHA), and other related parties as part of our preparation to test the open payment system and resolve any possible issues, ensuring that the system can be implemented by September 2023, as targeted by the Government”.

In addition, Halimi also stated that with the additional toll payment alternatives for highway users, the Government’s proposition will be efficient in easing the toll payment process in situations where users are restricted or unable to reload their Touch ‘n Go cards through the eWallet application or at any nearby Touch ‘n Go Point-of-Sale.
