Bioalpha Holdings Berhad has received approval to develop a Malaysian Agricultural Hub in the Hainan province as the project’s Master Development Plan has received approval from local authority.
The Hub will span 21 acres of land which are strategically located with easy accessibility to Hainan’s capital city of Haikou and central city of Ding’an Country via various expressways, including the main traffic way.
The initial phase of the Hub will focus on the upstream and downstream activities such as formulation, manufacturing and even commercialization of functional food products using Malaysian indigenous and tropical herbs. Within the Hub, the planned development of a Research & Development (“R&D”) facility and factory complex on site can further bolster the Group’s formulation and manufacturing activities. As announced earlier in July 2022, this endeavor will also allow Bioalpha to be eligible for tax incentives and exemptions offered by the local government.
Managing Director of Bioalpha, Mr. William Hon commented, “The Hub will take three to five years to complete and is expected to contribute positively to the Group. As part of our strategic focus to grow our presence in Hainan, we have also established our China headquarters there.”
Bioalpha currently supplies health foods to customers in Guizhou, China. Leveraging the Group’s infrastructure and resources in China, it said it has the ready capacity and is able to facilitate and expedite orders more efficiently.
The Group’s health food supply operations have swiftly resumed following the upliftment of zero-COVID restrictions in China. The deliveries of health food ingredients for the preparation of health food and nutritional meals to all schools in the Guizhou province are now back on track.
