Sarawak’s Alice Jawan Appointed To MAVCOM

Sarawak Ministry of Transport Permanent Secretary Datuk Ir. Alice Jawan Empaling was appointed as a new member of the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom).

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the appointment is for a period of three years, effective from March 28, 2023 to March 27, 2026.

“The ministry and Mavcom are very pleased to welcome Alice’s appointment. Her vast experience and passion for service will play an important role in driving Malaysia’s aviation industry forward.

“It is also in line with efforts to develop a commercial aviation industry that is commercially viable and responsive to the needs of the people,” he said in a statement today.

Loke added that his side and Mavcom are looking forward to Alice’s involvement and are confident that various benefits will be gained from her insights and knowledge.

“I would like to thank the Prime Minister for the confirmation and support given in the appointment of Alice as a member of Mavcom,” he said.

For the record, Alice also holds several senior management and board positions in the state, including playing the role of Chairman of the Sarawak Buoy and Fire Board, Executive Chairman of the Sarawak Road Safety Council and Deputy Chairman of the Sarawak Rivers Board.

In addition, Alice is also an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) since 2021.
