In the private-public partnership for the construction of the Shah Alam Sports Complex, the state government has identified 10 sites as land that will be awarded to the developer to finance the cost of building the structure,
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the developer is currently examining all the sites, including the land price, in accordance with the overall cost of the complex. The replacement process is ongoing in stages. We have already made an offer, and are now in the final process of finalising it he said.
The sites include several areas in Hulu Selangor and Klang, adding that land in Klang and Hulu Selangor is among the options for the replacement process.
The MB came under scrutiny for the project as questions were raised on how the state will fund the project as there was no reason for a new stadium at this moment. However, Amirudin reiterated that no public funds were used for KSSA’s redevelopment, due to its implementation as a public-private partnership.
The project is also said to benefit from the area’s existing access and advantages, including its strategic location and proximity to the Light Rail Transit (LRT3) line station.
