Telco Stocks Push Bursa Down At Midday

Bursa Malaysia remained lower at midday amid selling in heavyweight counters, led by telecommunications stocks.

At 12.30pm, the benchmark index dropped 2.58 points to 1,420.34 from last Friday’s close of 1,422.92.

The benchmark index opened marginally higher at 1,423.53 and moved in a narrow range of between 1,419.02 and 1,427.36 throughout the session.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 15): Bursa Malaysia remained lower at midday amid selling in heavyweight counters, led by telecommunications stocks.

At 12.30pm, the benchmark index dropped 2.58 points to 1,420.34 from last Friday’s close of 1,422.92.

The benchmark index opened marginally higher at 1,423.53 and moved in a narrow range of between 1,419.02 and 1,427.36 throughout the session.

The market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers 488 to 227, while 380 counters were unchanged, 1,162 untraded, and 28 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.46 billion units worth RM618.89 million.
