SOCC Never Forgets To Promote Uniqueness Of Sarawakian Culture

Despite being ‘flying’ high, SOCC Holdings Sdn. Bhd., (SOCC Holdings), one of the largest Bumiputera-owned corporate groups from Sarawak will not forget to promote the uniqueness of the various cultures of the state to the public.

The Executive Officer of SOCC Holdings, Amin Aznizan, it was proved through the organization of the Aidilfitri and Gawai Celebration Ceremony which was the theme of the Sarawak festival recently.

He said, the ceremony was held for the first time where all the SOCC Holdings chain of companies with expertise and preparations specially brought from Sarawak.

“A council with the concept of a festival from the land of Kenyalang so that we can all share the culture of Sarawak’s ethnic community which is unique in terms of food and culture.

“It is not only intended to strengthen the friendship between the group network, but it is to celebrate our corporate business partners and customers who have given us a lot of support.

“I believe it is a good opportunity to strengthen relationships and share the spirit of togetherness while celebrating two important cultural events in our country,” he said.

The ceremony was also enlivened with the performance of drumming and bermukun, which is a traditional Sarawak drum complete with violin accompanied by poems and dances and Ngajat dance.

There was also presentation of scholarship by Technology College Sarawak (TCS College) and SMTC Global Inc, both are associate companies of SOCC Holdings. Scholarships were given to the underprivileged especially for the children of Sabah & Sarawak.

Amin said, the scholarship offer is a committed effort of TCS College and SMTC Global Inc to eradicate poverty through education.

According to him, the scholarship is for the Foundation in Business and Helicopter Underwater Escape Training courses.

“What we do is we go into the interior of Sabah and Sarawak and give opportunities to those who cannot continue their studies at IPTA or IPTS by giving them scholarships.

“We (TCS College) are the first in Malaysia where students who take the Business Foundations course do not have a final exam. Evaluation is done throughout the study itself,” he said.

Regarding the business field, Amin told, his subsidiary that operates and manages catering at the country’s coastal oil rigs, SOCC Offshore Sdn. Bhd. (SOCC Offshore) is confident of being able to remain operational with a record of 10 million hours without any incident of accident, since the past 30 years.

SOCC Offshore previously known as Sribima Offshore Catering Services Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary of SOCC Holdings Sdn Bhd (SOCC Holdings) based in Miri, Sarawak since 1983.

The company is based on the business of providing quality catering services in the offshore petrochemical industry of Sarawak and the East Coast.
