Grab Launches JustSave, Allows Passengers To Carpool With Other Passengers

Grab announced that they will be piloting a new service, JustSave, in selected locations in Klang Valley beginning 29 May 2023.

Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know about the new transport service on the Grab app:

  • What is JustSave?
  • JustSave is Grab’s new economy service that allows passengers to access more affordable rides by carpooling with another passenger who is headed in the same direction and/or route as you at a given time.
  • Why is Grab rolling this out?
JustSave will provide users with a more affordable transport service type, for price conscious passengers.
  • What is the benefit of JustSave?
    • For Grab ride users – on average, fares for JustSave rides will help price conscious users save up to 20% when they share a ride.
    • For driver-partners – another option forpotential improvement to earnings per minute by getting allocated and serving multiple bookings that take the same route / headed to destinations that are close by at the same time.
  • Where and when will JustSave be available?
This service will be rolled out in several areas within Klang Valley first and will be available at locations and times with high matching possibilities – such as transit hubs and pick up points with high demand. It will currently be available for booking at areas surrounding KLCC, Mid Valley Bangsar, Sentral Brickfields and One Utama/First Avenue.
  • How does JustSave work?
If one passenger cancels while the driver-partner is on the way, the passenger who cancelled the ride will have to pay a cancellation fee. Cancelation fees will go fully to driver-partners to compensate them for their time and effort lost. The remaining passenger’s booking will not be affected by this and will proceed as booked.

  • How is this different from previous versions of sharing or carpooling solutions?

Unlike GrabShare, JustSave, which leverages the newest iteration of pooling, will only confirm a booking if the request is successfully matched.

If no match to share the ride with, you’ll still get a discounted JustGrab ride to your destination.
