Fugitive businessman Jho Low, also known as Low Taek Jho, is suspected to be hiding in Macau, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received information from several individuals claiming to have seen Low in Macau.
The report also mentions the arrest of Kee Kom Thiam, an alleged associate of Low, who was recently apprehended by MACC at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The investigation is focused on Kee’s assets in Singapore, and the case file has been submitted to the attorney-general’s office. The MACC has been gathering intelligence since 2018 when travel bans were imposed on individuals linked to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case.
The Malaysian government is actively working on extraditing Low back to Malaysia in collaboration with foreign agencies, including the MACC and Interpol, which issued a Red Notice for Low in 2018.
