Maybank Islamic Sets 50,000 Customers Target For EzyWasiat

Maybank Islamic Bank Bhd has targeted 50,000 customers in 12 months for its first digital writing service called EzyWasiat.

The service allows customers to simply plan and arrange their Wasiat in accordance with Shariah and Faraid (Islamic inheritance) principles.

Maybank Islamic is working with CreateWills Sdn Bhd, a fintech platform provider, on the new product.

Maybank Islamic chief executive officer Datuk Mohamed Rafique Merican said it is well-positioned to spearhead islamic banking in this region and beyond with the right partner.

“Ezywasiat customers will be directly supported by Maybank Islamic’s wealth management advisors or relationship managers who will use the built-in Faraid algorithm to ease the wasiat writing procedure on the platform,” he said at the launch today.

The platform is targeted for Muslims who have long wanted to prepare a Wasiat but have been put off by perceived difficulties, costs and lack of convenience.

Ahmad Shareza Abdul Rahman, the bank’s Islamic wealth management and business development head, said the entire process can be done in less than 30 minutes with a cost as low as RM600.

“Considering the dynamic of life and the fact that situations can change over time, EzyWasiat’s digital nature allows it to be easily adjusted,” he explained.

EzyWasiat platform is now available at all Maybank branches with online consultation.
