CIMB Appoints Novan Amirudin As Investment Bank CEO

CIMB Group Holdings Berhad has appointed Novan Amirudin as Chief Executive Officer of its wholly-owned subsidiary, CIMB Investment Bank Berhad effective 15 June 2023.

CIMB Investment Bank is part of Group Wholesale Banking for CIMB Group, in which Novan is Co-Chief Executive Officer. Novan has close to 20 years of experience in Investment Banking and Corporate Finance across ASEAN, with extensive experience in client coverage, mergers and acquisitions (“M&As”), public offerings, private placements, derivative solutions, and bank financing. Prior to joining CIMB, he was with J.P. Morgan as Head of Equity Capital Markets, in Southeast Asia, and Head of Investment Banking, in Malaysia.

Novan is taking over the role of Jefferi Hashim, whose responsibilities have been refocused and expanded as Group Head, Private Banking and Head, ESG Advisory and Solutions, and Group Wholesale Banking of CIMB Group. This will enable Jefferi to intensify the Group’s efforts in driving the private banking business, as well as championing the sustainability agenda across the Wholesale Banking franchise in line with CIMB’s commitment to helping clients advance their ESG agendas through sustainable finance solutions. Jefferi will continue to report to Novan in his new role. Alongside this, Nor Masliza Sulaiman will continue as Deputy CEO of CIMB Investment Bank and Group Head of Investment Banking.
