Masks No Longer Mandatory On Public Transport and Hospitals

The Ministry of Health has issued a new SOP for Covid 19 which will take effect from July 5 onward, under the new procedures mask wearing in public transport is no longer mandatory but is advised to continue.

Minister Dr Zaliha however stated that those positive cases will have to continue wearing them including hospital staff handling the patients. Under the easing, Covid 19 positive patients will only need to be isolated for 5 days instead of 7 days, the changes come as the country’s 6 monthly localised infection status ends on 30 June. MOH said it will continue with the guidelines or the next 6 months to monitor the country’s situation due to the upcoming state elections and large-scale gatherings that are taking place. This is in order to observe infection trends among the population during this period.

Malaysia has recorded a significant drop in positive cases and deaths in the past 6 months.
