Datuk Nor Azam Continues To Head MBSB Bank As CEO

MBSB which recently acquired MIDF has stated that the group will retain Datuk Nor Azam as the banking unit’s Chief Executive Officer, while Rafe Haneef will be the Group CEO of the combined entity.

The bank has reiterated that Datuk Nor who has more than 26 years of extensive experience in the banking and finance sector will continue to lead the business. He has established experience in the areas of auditing, structured lending, business banking, and corporate business. Prior to MBSB, he was Head of Business Banking at Bank Islam (M) Berhad.

Since joining MBSB on 8 November 2010, Datuk Nor Azam has been leading the Bank’s Corporate Business Division and rose to be appointed as Chief Business Officer of MBSB Bank Berhad (“MBSB Bank”) in April 2018 where he championed the overall strategic direction of the bank through the development of the Business Plan and its implementation phase. In this role, he enhanced the business strategies of the Bank, develop, guide, motivate, and direct the implementation of specific plans and programs for the different types of banking and overall performance.

He leads the team in the overall management of sales strategies; maintains an effective relationship with regulatory, governmental, industry, financial, and community groups so as to enhance financial performance and business effectiveness. Datuk Nor Azam was appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer effective 1 January 2021 with an expansion of role to oversee all Divisions in MBSB Group including MBSB Bank. He was subsequently appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer of MBSB and Chief Executive Officer of MBSB Bank effective 1 July 2022.
