MN Holding’s Subsidiary Secures RM13.1 Mil ECRL Underground Utilities Contract

Underground utilities and substation engineering specialist MN Holdings Berhad (MN Holdings) gained an underground utilities contract worth RM13.1 million for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

The Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Mutu Nusantara Sdn Bhd (Mutu Nusantara) received and accepted a letter of award from the main contractor Rentak Segar Sdn Bhd for its appointment as the sub-contractor. 

Under the contract, Mutu Nusantara will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) of the preliminaries and relocation of power cable works at Section 9 in the ECRL project.

The ECRL project, spanning 665km and comprising 59 tunnels, includes construction works in four states, namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Selangor, and is designed to be flood-free.

The EPCC contract shall commence immediately and target for completion in July 2024.

MN Holdings Managing Director Loy Siong Hay (pic) said this is the company’s first contract win to provide relocation of power cable works in the ECRL project. “We are delighted to be part of this strategically important mega project and to be working with China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd. We will continue to build on our 16 years of experience and expertise in delivering underground utilities and substation engineering works for major infrastructure projects,” he added.

Major projects secured by MN Holdings in the current financial year ending 30 June 2023 include the RM26.9 million contract for the EPCC of interconnection facility for a large scale solar photovoltaic plant and 132kV substation in Perlis; RM22.5 million contract to design, supply, install, maintain, test and commission 132KV and 33KV interim consumer landing station for GDS data centre in Johor and RM20.2 million EPCC contract to build natural gas distribution system for Proton Tanjung Malim Sdn Bhd. 

MNHB is principally involved in the provision of infrastructure utilities services comprising underground utilities engineering services and solutions and substation engineering services and solutions serving customers in the power, gas, sewerage and telecommunications industries in Malaysia.
