Bursa Broadly Higher At Midday

Bursa Malaysia ended the morning trading session broadly higher as a drop in the US inflation boosted hopes for a less hawkish US Federal Reserve rate hike.

At 12.30pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 12.03 points to 1,388.71 from 1,376.68 at Friday’s (June 30) close.

The key index opened 2.71 points better at 1,379.39 in the morning and moved between 1,379.31 and 1,391.29 throughout the session.

The broader market was also positive as gainers beat decliners 396 to 317, while 406 counters were unchanged, 1,139 untraded and 40 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.59 billion units worth RM716.94 million.
