SCIB’s Dato Karim Relinquishes Position As Shareholder Of The Company

Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad has announced in a Bursa filing that its previous Executive Chairman, Non-Independent and Substantial Shareholder Dato Karim has relinquished his position as a shareholder of the company.

This comes after the SCIB refuted claims of being the company’s single largest shareholder with a 21.81% stake and that he does not appear as a shareholder based on the record of depositors as of 21 June 2023.

It added, that Dato’ Karim also does not appear on the list of the Company’s top 30 shareholders. It noted a discrepancy between its ROD and the register of substantial shareholders that it keeps in relation to its shareholding. The last notice received by the Company by Dato’ Karim on the change of his shareholdings was dated 1 November 2021.

And it also added that unless there was notice from Dato’ Karim, there is no requirement for the Company to make any entry in its register of substantial shareholders.
